This resource introduces Behaviour-Centred Design (BCD), an approach that combines behavioural science insights with design thinking methods to develop behaviourally-informed solutions to environmental challenges.
The BCD framework consists of eight steps, guiding practitioners from framing the behavioural and environmental issues and developing a deep understanding of the target audience, through to implementing solutions at scale. Each step incorporates diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) considerations, alongside a range of practical tools to support understanding of the who, what, where, when, why, and how involved at each stage.
The framework is designed to be used alongside BE.Center's behavioural levers, enabling practitioners to design effective campaigns, projects, or interventions grounded in both behavioural science and human-centred design principles. This resource provides an overview of the eight BCD steps, with a free, self-paced introductory course available for those seeking a more thorough, structured exploration of the framework and its application which can be found here.
